There is much activity in the local and state housing arenas. So many organizations are working hard to ensure our community has access to housing they can afford. Likewise, our housing developers are finding innovative ways to build housing more efficiently at lower prices.
The house above is from Classic Homes Portrait Collection, a smaller home built on a small footprint that allows for an optional accessory dwelling unit to be added for owner investment or multigenerational living. We love this! We also toured a company in Denver that is building modular homes for Oakwood Homes. We are hopeful these homes will soon be available in Colorado Springs.
The photo below was taken at GPR Properties’ groundbreaking for Bentley Commons, an established 24-unit affordable housing property that is adding 164 units! We are so excited to see this project begin development and hopeful for the many families it will house and support for years to come. We love celebrating the exciting work of our housing developers and providers. Please let us know what you’re doing so we can celebrate you, too!

- The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC will be transporting community members to the State Capitol on March 5th to speak in support of SB24-106. This is a bipartisan bill that reduces the likelihood of lawsuits filed against condominium properties, Since 2021, only 56 condos and more than 11,000 apartments have been built in the Pikes Peak region. If this bill passes, condos will again be built in Colorado, providing much-needed entry-level home ownership options for our residents. Please contact us if you would like to join us at the Capitol!
- The Colorado Springs City Council recently denied an appeal of the Royal Pine Apartments development, which means this 232-unit affordable and attainable housing property will be built up north, helping many individuals and families to find housing they can afford near their place of work. HERE is a great article on the vote.

- The Downtown Partnership just released its 2023 Annual Report. Big news? There are currently 1,310 apartment units under development in downtown that are supported by the Downtown Development Authority’s (DDA) tax increment financing. The DDA is a great supporter of multifamily housing in Colorado Springs!
